In short: Not as good as its neighbour at Llechog Buttress and nowhere near as good as nearby famous routes such as Bryant’s Gully, Crib Goch or Clogwyn y Parson Arete.
However, there is merit here in the form of three notable sections, including a 10-metre boot-width crack.

Parking and Approach
The route is located on the hillside between the Nant Peris car park and Cromlech Boulders.
I parked at Nant Peris, followed the stream downstream, over the bridge, then upstream for 30 metres, took the fork in the path and followed the upper path across the hillside, over a blunt rocky ridge and to a wooded area.
On the other side of the wooded area is a grassy hillside with a lower ridge visible; this is the start of the Ridge and Buttress scrambles.
I gained this lower ridge on its left side, next to a long stone wall perpendicular to the ridge.
An alternative approach is possible from the laybys down from Cromlech Boulders.
Be warned – whichever route you take, it’s a bit of a slog up the hillside.

Start of the Scramble
Approximately 2/3rds of the way up the lower ridge, I crossed the couloir rightwards to an obvious outcrop of steep rock.

The sloping notch, located 10 metres or so up its left side, marks the start of the ridge route:

Quartz Crack
I really enjoyed scrambling up this quartz crack. There was quite a bit of lichen and obviously the quartz would be slippery in the wet, but I did this in the dry, and it was superb.
I found a few loose holds nr the middle area and more vegetation nr the top but overwise, it offered great bridging moves up the crack.
Great grade 2 scrambling here folks.

10 Metre Crack
After the quartz crack, there was plenty of broken scrambling (not great, not terrible) up to the final challenge – a 10-metre “boot-width” crack.
This reminds me of the grade 3 scramble up Tryfan Fach, but here it feels harder as the crack is hollow and the holds in the middle area are small.
My attempts at a foot jam halfway up led to me getting my foot stuck in the crack for about 15 seconds.

What I Think of This Scramble
The start and the 10-metre crack were great fun, but the rest of the route wasn’t memorable, so it gets a 1 out of 3 for fun.
I grade it as a -2, but the 10m crack felt harder.
While the scramble was better than I was expecting, it’s not worth the trek in just to complete this one route. It might be possible to complete the sloping notch and the quartz crack near the start; you could cross the heather to the start of the Buttress route next door, which is much more sustained and slightly harder (grade 2). I rate the Buttress route higher at 2 out of 3 for fun.
You could make more out of your day by heading over to Cloggy and completing the Eastern Terrace (assuming it is dry enough).
Route Profile
Grade: Grade 2- from me.
Suitability for beginners: Only in the dry and only with previous experience at scrambling.
Navigation: I found it easy enough to find.
Dangers: The usual for this grade plus the quartz, which could be very slippery in damp conditions.
Popularity: This route isn’t popular; most will go up the buttress.
Fun rating: 1 star out of 3 in my opinion.
My likes: A quiet, underused route with that natural rough feel.
My dislikes: Scrappy between the good bits.
Nearby scrambles: Llechog Buttress next door at grade 2. Bryant’s Gully, Crib Goch North Ridge and Clogwyn y Person Arete are also further up the valley.
