I recently had a rainy day here in Snowdonia, so I spent my time creating a parking map for Snowdon.
Here you’ll find all the Pay & Display car parks and some free laybys for all the main routes up Snowdon.
Just open the map and click on the marker pin to see more info about that parking spot.
I’ve included prices, the number of spaces, whether they take card or only accept coins etc.
I may not be able to provide sat nav postcodes as these often cover a very wide area and won’t be precise.
My Favourite Scrambling Footwear:
Llanberis Path
The most popular route up Snowdon.
There are several Pay & Display car parks in the town of Llanberis.
The closest is opposite the railway.
Click on the pins in the map for info about each car park:
Pyg Track, Miners Track & Crib Goch
The Pyg Track and Miners’ Track routes are very popular and start at Pen y Pass Car Park which last year was Prebook Only from April to October and Pay & Display in the winter.
Pen y Pass Car Park is tiny and is the most expensive place to park in Snowdonia.
Consider the Park & Ride at Nant Peris.
What3Words Nant Peris Park & Ride
Here is the official website where you can prebook (April – Oct): parkopedia.co.uk
Open the map and click on the pins to see nearby parking places:
Watkin Path and South Ridge Parking
These are harder routes up Snowdon.
Use the Pay & Display at Pont Bethania near Nant Gwynant.
There’s a free layby 100 metres away but don’t park in front of the houses or cafe as these areas are for customers and residents.
Open the map and click on the pins for more info:
Rhyd Ddu Path
One of my favourite routes, often very quiet.
There is a Pay & Display next to the train station.
There’s also a handful of free layby spots nearby (What3Words).
Open the map and click on the pins to see nearby parking places:
Snowdon Ranger Path Parking
An easier route up Snowdon with parking in the Pay & Display car park (Llyn Cwellyn car park).
Open the map and click on the pins for more info:
About Daniel Weadley
I hope you found this page helpful, I’ll try to update the prices on the map as and when I can.
If you’re visiting Snowdon on a Bank Holiday weekend, I suggest getting there very early to get a parking space as this area is extremely popular.

I have been comparing your carpark maps to that of justpark and I cannot find several, is this because not all the ones you show can be pre booked? (Llanberis path). Feels like a bit of a minefield and I don’t know what I’m meant to be doing. Can I just turn up on the day and find a spot? (hike planned 13th September 2025 in the morning). Thank you
There’s a huge car park opposite the Snowdon Mountain Railway Station (easily viewable on Google Maps) which is very close to the start of teh Llanberis Path. Just turn up, no pre-booking. I think there are some running events on Snowdon on the 13th, so if the weather is nice, you may wish to arrive a bit earlier to get a car parking space. I’ve never pre-booked a parking space in Llanberis, so I can’t comment on JustPark but their website only shows a few of the car parks, not all of them.
Thank you for replying! 🙂
